Witness the Guayacanes Blossoms in Colimes

Colimes is a small town located 90km and an hour and a half drive north of Guayaquil, along the Route of Rice. Once a year there is a beautiful sea of yellow flowers during the Guayacanes blossom. The blossom takes place sometime between December and January depending on the rainfall and only lasts for one week.

In Colimes, the Las Habras farm hosts one of the most spectacular shows or the blossom of the Guayacanes. This is the first location to feature Guayacanes in the Guayas region.

Las Habras has a 2km walking path winding through the natural Gauyacanes forest. The path takes around one hour to complete while taking plenty of photos. The path can be have muddy spots if there was recent rainfall, so bring a sturdy pair of walking shoes. The best time to visit Colimes is in the middle of the week long blossom, when the whole landscape is bursting in yellow.

The tour begins with a traditional dance show and an interesting interpretation center, including history of the region. You can also enjoy lunch there, with local dishes and fresh fruit juices available for purchase. They offer horses to rent along the walking path.

Las Habras has so much more to offer than just its Guayacanes blossoms. The farm also allows biking and camping. There are cabins available to rent as well and enjoy some natural landscapes. It is a perfect destination to enjoy with your family, friends or even alone. Charge your camera and get ready to photograph some beautiful flower blossoms!

The entry fee for Las Habras is $3 USD for adults and $1.50 for children which includes a tour guide.
