Discover the changing landscapes of the Coast: from plantations to the cloud forest, through the historic town of Yaguachi all from the comfort of a newly renovated train. The train leaves from Duran station which is a 30 minute drive from downtown Guayaquil. From the train station in Bucay there is a transfer to Hosteria D’Franco.

After arriving to the beautiful grounds of Hosteria D’Franco, there is time to relax in your accommodations or enjoy the services. There is a pool, jacuzzi, sports courts and more.

Guided Mountain Hike

Take a short guided hike through the natural hill on the hotel’s grounds. Get a glimpse of the abundant palm and cacao plants which are exported around the world.

Horseback Ride

There is the chance to hop on a gentle horse for a ride through the farm. Make sure to bring along your camera to get the perfect selfie with your new equine friend.

Hike to Piedra Blanca waterfalls

After a breakfast at the hotel, get a ride on a colorful chiva into the Esperanza cloud forest. Enjoy a guided hike visiting several of the tallest and most beautiful waterfalls in the region, including Isabela and the Chorrera del Amor waterfall. At each waterfall you have the opportunity to take a dip in the cool waters.

Waterfall Rappelling

At the final waterfall you have the option for an adrenaline packed rappelling experience down a 30 meter waterfall. Make sure to bring a change of clothes and a towel as you will be maneuvering yourself through the waterfall as you descend. Have no fear if you have never rappelled before as the expert guides have all the equipment and guidance that you need.

Trapiche Visit

After the hike through the picturesque forest it is time for cultural visit to a trapiche. A trapiche is a traditional wooden mill used to extract sugarcane juice. Have a go at pushing the mill yourself before tasting the delicious sugar drink.

Back to Guayaquil

It is time for one last lunch to close out a relaxing and adventure filled weekend in Bucay. After lunch it is back to Guayaquil and the end of fun Bucay getaway.
